The Samurai Slam is back February 29th, 2020! Hosted by The American Judo Foundation this tournament will feature 4 competition areas for shiai, kosen, and kata from schools across the southeast (i.e. FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, KY, TN, and AL).
As before, we will have three types of competition, standard Shiai, Kata, and Kosen (ground only with modified Judo rules). Competitors from age 4 and up are welcome. We will have 4 mat areas running, 2 for Juniors, and 2 for Seniors. As always we will finish the Juniors competition with an awards ceremony on the Juniors mats, then Seniors competition will expand to all four mats.
Our last tournament boasted 300 entries, started at 11 am and was done around 5:00 pm. We anticipate a similar start and finish this time as well.
Brown and Black belts who are interested in refereeing get their first division FREE, kata included. We want to encourage as many advanced players as we can to referee at the local and regional level as possible. Players who referee are better players and referees who play are better referees. Best of all, our young athletes get GREAT referees for their matches. Contact Lisa Capriotti or Robert Gouthro for more information about getting started as a local referee.
